Sangmin Song
Student Journalist, Boston University

Sangmin Song is a student journalist at Boston University with reporting, editing and multimedia experience across campus, local, citywide and international newsrooms. He currently works as a General Assignment Writing Intern at BU Today, and also reports for Gotta Know Medford, covering transportation, infrastructure and local issues as a community reporter.

During summer of 2025, Song also wrote climate and environmental policy stories for Newstree, a Seoul-based digital newsroom, where he reported on government policy, international climate negotiations and corporate sustainability. He has published more than 250 articles with a focus on data-driven reporting and policy analysis.

Previously, he served as Campus News Editor for The Daily Free Press, where he led a team of about 65 reporters, assigned and edited daily coverage and interviewed senior university leadership including the BU president and dean of students. His investigative article on campus mental-health transparency ran as the sole A1 story in print.

From 2023 to 2024, Song completed his military service in the Republic of Korea Army as an infantry fighting vehicle driver and squad leader. He wrote an opinion piece for the Korean Forces Network and received the Honorary Soldier Award upon discharge.

Song is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Journalism at BU, expected to graduate in May 2026.
